is an ongoing initiative that extends my studio practice beyond the making and selling of art, directing a portion of StudioWork proceeds and program revenue toward causes and organizations that support artist advocacy, education, animal welfare, and our broader community.

I’m thrilled and honored to partner with Butterhead Kitchen on a project that brings together my paintings, our local community, and support for animal shelters throughout the Lehigh Valley.
This project began several years ago when my friend of more than 20 years, Jason Sizemore, opened Butterhead Kitchen in Easton. Through vegan cooking classes, demo-style cooking experiences, and special community table events, Jason created a space centered around food, creativity, and community. He invited me to hang my paintings there, with the option for visitors to purchase them.
We soon saw an opportunity to extend that collaboration beyond the paintings themselves by using art sales to support local animal shelters and the animals in their care.
What began as a simple opportunity to display my work has grown into an ongoing giving project. The previous large-scale painting sold through the project generated a $1,300 donation, helping fund three years of medicine and prescription food for a recently abandoned cat at the Center for Animal Health and Welfare in Easton.

of the proceeds from every painting sold at Butterhead Kitchen will be donated directly to a local animal shelter.
The installation at Butterhead Kitchen will change seasonally, creating an opportunity to see and purchase my work while supporting a different local animal shelter through each group of paintings. Each painting will be connected to a specific shelter, allowing the impact of its sale to be direct and tangible.

Scarlet Heart Sanctuary

Below are some photos from from the day Jason and I spent at the sanctuary meeting some of the dogs and touring the lovely grounds that include a wild flower garden (for dogs to smell beautiful flowers), a sound garden (for dogs to listen to sweet chimes), and a patio to sit and enjoy the grounds. Truly a sanctuary.
Sanctuary Visit
The dogs we met that day were so easy to love. I left feeling so grateful for the staff and crew at Scarlet Heart Sanctuary for giving these dogs what they need to heal, thrive, and grow old with dignity.
It’s tireless work, and you can’t fake it. You do this kind of caretaking because you truly believe these dogs deserve to be surrounded by love and given everything they need to recover from whatever brought them there.
It’s noble work. It’s also expensive. There are medicines, physical therapies, training, food, and all the everyday supplies required to care for them.
Like a lot of animal lovers, I wish I could pay for all of that myself. Someday. For now, I have paintings—and I can use them as a vehicle to help.

I’m so happy to partner with Butterhead Kitchen in establishing a donation program benefitting local animal shelters through a revolving seasonal installation of paintings in their Easton space.

The painting is priced at $6500 and the donation will be $1300.

This series is a kind of meditation on before, during, and after. I focused on the idea of watching a storm approach, happen, and pass. As I wrote in the catalog text:
I wanted to bring the energy of storms in and out of these paintings; to be present with the motion and the rest, the light and the dark, the inhale and the exhale. Present while recording the passing of time so I could make something tangible out of uncertainty and in spite of the uniquely discomforting concept that is our own impermanence. Present while stitching together before, during, and after, because impermanence, as it pertains to storms, is comforting.
